NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A neighbor helped an elderly woman out of her burning home late Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported just before Noon in the 3900 block of Bryce Road in south Nashville.
"I came down here and there's smoke coming out of the front of [the home]," neighbor Candee Lyons said. "I could see an elderly lady standing at the door, but she wouldn't come out. Her dog was running around. She seemed to think I could come in and take care of it, but I talked her out."
Authorities told Nashville's News 2 the homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation.
It is estimated that 50% of the home sustained damage. Firefighters believe the fire initially started on the back deck before spreading to the home and attic.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
