A local company has stepped up and has donated roof shingles to a Cheatham County church twice after the first donation was stolen.
The shingles were going to be placed on a 1,000 square foot building located behind the Good Springs Free Will Baptist Church in the near future.
Church members were planning to install the new roof in an effort to keep expenses to a minimum.
Nashville's News 2 Investigates spoke with church member Travis Walker who said thieves went to the Murfreesboro lot where the shingles were being held and stole the entire shipment.
Walker said the children and youth who meet in the building were shocked to learn of the theft.
"They were somber. You could hear a pin drop. Someone speaking said they actually stole from God," he said.
Walker told Nashville's News 2 since the recent theft, the church has received a second gift of shingles.
"Same company that gave it to us the first time has been in touch with manufacturers and we have another roof coming," he said, adding, "There are still good people in this world who have faith and understand what we are trying to do with these young leaders."
The shingles that were stolen were white. Anyone with information on the theft is urged to call their local law enforcement.
