So far this winter, Nashville has only seen 1 inch of snow officially (at the airport). We normally have a little more than 5 inches by this time of the year (30 year norms).
Over the next few days, we will only see the possibility of rain showers occasionally mixing with a little sleet or snow (chances increase on in our eastern counties and along the KY border) with temperatures generally above freezing.
It's several days out and things could change, but by Friday night into Saturday, an upper level "cut off low" is expected to drop into the mid south as a bigger push of cold air pushes in.
This could result in snow showers (not a mix) that may at least give a dusting to some areas, and possibly some accumulations in others.
However, to put it in perspective, it probably won't be any bigger an event than any one of the previous snow situations we have been through this year (should this occur).
Another note on timing. Some models bring these snow shower chances in early Friday, others wait until Friday PM-Saturday. That is still to be seen.
This is the same situation that I have been posting about the last several days, but since we have seen so little of Old Man Winter this year, I thought you'd like to know!
REMEMBER WE'RE TALKING 3-4 DAYS OUT, SO THINGS COULD CHANGE.
