Sources have confirmed five people are dead, including a Nashville surgeon, and two others were injured after a small jet crashed at an airport in eastern Georgia.

According to investigators, the plane tried to abort a landing and hit a 60-foot utility pole then burst into flames.

According to Dr. Stephen Davis, a colleague of the victims, Dr. Steven Roth with the Vein Guys is among the dead.

Dr. Davis said two ultrasound technicians, a nurse anesthetist and a secretary with The Vein Guys' Augusta office were also killed.

According to FOX 54 in Augusta, 29-year-old Tiffany Porter of Albany, GA. was one of the ultrasound technicians killed.

Porter, an Alabama native, was planning on moving to Nashville. Her coworkers had a going away party for her on Friday, her last day at Albany Vascular.

The Hawker Beechcraft 390/Premier I jet was on flight from John C. Tune Airport in Nashville, Tennessee, to the Thomson-McDuffie County airport, about 30 miles west of Augusta.

The flight left Nashville at 6:28 p.m. Wednesday, and crashed around 8:30 p.m. after landing on runway 10. The aircraft apparently ran off the runway and into a wooded area at the east end of the airport.

McDuffie County Sheriff, Logan Marshall said the jet was carrying seven people when it crashed. Logan said the two survivors were taken to area hospitals and their conditions were not known.

The Vein Guys Nashville location said the business was closed Thursday.

Dr. Davis told Nashville's News 2 Dr. Roth was a "great guy, a hard worker, a great husband and really cared for his people [patients and colleagues.]"

Davis saw Dr. Roth as he was leaving the Nashville office Wednesday afternoon.

"Sort of the casual wave and keep on moving, but you know he was in a good mood, happy," said Dr. Davis.

Dr. Roth leaves behind a wife and two children.
