BOSTON, Feb. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Eaton Vance Senior Income Trust (NYSE: EVF) (the "Fund"), a closed-end management investment company, today announced the earnings of the Fund for the three months and the six months ended December 31, 2012. The Fund's fiscal year ends on June 30, 2013.

For the three months ended December 31, 2012, the Fund had net investment income of $4,310,733 ($0.117 per common share).  From this amount, the Fund paid dividends on preferred shares of $39,336 (equal to $0.001 for each common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $4,271,397 or $0.116 per common share.  For the six months ended December 31, 2012, the Fund had net investment income of $9,165,809 ($0.249 per common share).  From this amount, the Fund paid dividends on preferred shares of $75,128 (equal to $0.002 for each common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $9,090,681 or $0.247 per common share.  In comparison, for the three months ended December 31, 2011, the Fund had net investment income of $3,905,978 ($0.106 per common share).  From this amount, the Fund paid dividends on preferred shares of $22,865 (equal to less than $0.001 for each common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $3,883,113 or $0.106 per common share.  For the six months ended December 31, 2011, the Fund had net investment income of $7,585,114 ($0.206 per common share).  From this amount, the Fund paid dividends on preferred shares of $46,103 (equal to $0.001 for each common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $7,539,011 or $0.205 per common share.      

Net realized and unrealized gains for the three months ended December 31, 2012 were $1,809,972 ($0.050 per common share).  The Fund's net realized and unrealized gains for the six months ended December 31, 2012 were $7,853,660 ($0.214 per common share).  In comparison, net realized and unrealized gains for the three months ended December 31, 2011 were $7,119,094 ($0.185 per common share).  The Fund's net realized and unrealized losses for the six months ended December 31, 2011 were $9,606,097 ($0.270 per common share). 

On December 31, 2012, net assets of the Fund applicable to common shares were $269,588,327.  The net asset value per common share on December 31, 2012 was $7.33 based on 36,776,552 common shares outstanding. In comparison, on December 31, 2011, net assets of the Fund applicable to common shares were $254,488,195. The net asset value per common share on December 31, 2011 was $6.92 based on 36,752,548 common shares outstanding.
