NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police have arrested a man after he attacked a woman walking her dog in an Antioch neighborhood.

The incident happened February 9 on Old Franklin Road near Crossings Boulevard.

According to a police affidavit, the woman told police she was walking her dog when a man on the opposite side of the road approached her.

She said the man, later identified as 51-year-old Darrell Taylor, was speaking gibberish so she tried to walk away from him. At that point, he grabbed her and threw her to the ground. During the struggle, he grabbed her throat, temporarily restricting her from breathing.

He also reportedly sexually assaulted the woman.

She was eventually able to fight him off by kicking and scratching him during the attack.

Police said the woman did not know Taylor.

Taylor was arrested and faces several charges including sexual battery, aggravated strangulation and assault on an officer.

His bond was set at $65,000. He is expected in court Thursday.
