A Sumner County woman is accused of stealing $165,000 from a church that she worked at for more than a year. According to authorities, Crystal Dycus was reported for stealing from the Douglas Chapel Methodist Church in Gallatin.Investigators said the 30-year-old's position, which published reports say was unpaid, gave her access to the church's bank accounts. "We received a complaint from people at the church regarding money missing," Major Don Linzy with the Sumner County Sheriff's Department said. Investigators launched a nine month investigation and quickly pulled the church's bank records and transactions. It was discovered Dycus had used the church's money for personal use. Dycus, who has since confessed to the crime, turned herself into authorities on one count of theft over $60,000 and one count of money laundering. She is expected to be arraigned in Sumner County court later this week. Nashville's News 2 Investigates attempted to reach Dycus for comment were unsuccessful.
