Local family brings healthy vending machines to Nashville

Posted:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A Nashville couple is making an effort to provide healthy snack options in a convenient way.

John and Suzanne McMillan, a husband and wife with five young children, have partnered with HUMAN Healthy Vending to ensure that their community has convenient access to healthy foods and beverages.

The McMillans' healthy vending machines provide healthful alternatives to what is found in standard junk-food vending machines, including wholesome snacks like fresh fruit, vegetables and locally-sourced snack bars.

There are currently 10 locations in the greater Nashville area that offer HUMAN vending, including:

- Sumner County Family YMCA
- Downtown YMCA
- Bellevue Family YMCA & FiftyForward Turner Center
- Robertson County YMCA
- Rutherford County YMCA
- University School of Nashville
- Aveda Institute of Nashville

With the new proposed USDA guidelines for schools nationwide regarding school nutrition, they hope to make a positive impact in Metro Nashville Public Schools.

HUMAN used 10% of its proceeds to fund its non-profit charity arm, HUMAN Everywhere.
