Cookeville woman charged with child rape

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -

A Cookeville woman faces multiple counts of child rape from incidents stemming from last year.

Authorities presented testimony and evidence to a Putnam County grand jury which resulted in a six count indictment against 44-year-old Tonya Phy.

Investigators opened a criminal case against Phy in mid 2012 after receiving information was sexually involved with a boy under the age of 12.

Phy turned herself into authorities on Wednesday.

She will be arraigned at an upcoming date.
