NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A police check on a suspicious car parked in south Nashville early Wednesday morning led to a short foot chase with an armed suspect.

According to Metro police, around 2:30 a.m., officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of Klub Cirok on Murfreesboro Road.

When officers approached the vehicle to investigate, a man sitting inside the vehicle later identified as convicted felon Darrelle Groves jumped out and took off running.

Officers noticed he was carrying a handgun and a short foot chase ensued.

Groves, 30, was eventually caught and taken into custody. He received minor cuts and bruises during the pursuit but was not seriously injured.

He was booked into the Metro jail on charges of evading and resisting arrest and weapons possession charges.

Groves' passenger, Arbrey Sowell, 22, was also arrested.

He was wanted on outstanding warrants charging him with attempted criminal homicide, aggravated robbery and attempted aggravated robbery stemming from an armed robbery and shooting during a drug deal in late December.
