A Clarksville mother faces multiple charges for driving under the influence Monday night with her young daughter inside the vehicle.

According to Clarksville Now, the incident involving 30-year-old Amanda Smith occurred around 9:45 p.m. on Ringgold Road.

Arresting officers discovered Smith's four-year-old daughter unrestrained in the front seat of the vehicle.

The newspaper reported Smith, who appeared to be impaired at the time, told police she was driving on a suspended license and did not have proof of insurance.

A K-9 unit discovered marijuana inside the vehicle. Smith admitted she had smoked the illegal drug a short time earlier.

Smith was taken into police custody and is charged with reckless endangerment and DUI, among other charges.

She has since been released on a $2,250 bond.

The father of Smith's daughter and the Department of Children's Services were both notified of the incident.
