Man flees from police after crash, leaves injured passenger
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
A man arrested in Clarksville for DUI faces a number of charges after fleeing the scene after he crashed his vehicle, leaving an injured passenger behind.
Police said Daniel Cruz was traveling more than 90 miles-per-hour before he crashed his Dodge pickup truck into a retaining wall at the intersection of Crossland Avenue and Riverside Drive just after Midnight Sunday.
The 26-year-old man immediately fled the scene, leaving an injured female passenger.
Cruz was taken into custody a short time later. As police continued their investigation, it was determined Cruz had been involved in a hit-and-run accident that left one person with minor injuries prior to crashing his truck.
He is charged with DUI, evading arrest in a vehicle and vehicular assault among others.

The 23-year-old woman traveling with Cruz at the time of the crash was taken to an area hospital before being transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Her condition or identity was not immediately released.
