House fire claims man's life in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

A house fire early Monday morning in Clarksville claimed the life of a man in his late 20s.

An officer on patrol spotted the home on Cave Street off Providence Boulevard on fire just before 2 a.m.

First responders were able to pull one man, 50-year-old Matias Hernandez-Castellano, from the burning structure.

The body of the victim was found a short time later.

Firefighters remained on the scene until after 6 a.m., tending to hotspots.

The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known. An investigation is underway.

The victim's identity wasn't immediately released.
