NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Shots rang out in north Nashville following a two-vehicle collision late Sunday night.

Metro police said Anthony Ewin Jr. rear-ended another vehicle on Brick Church Pike between Brick Church Lane and Chesapeake Drive around 10:30 p.m.

Following the collision, Ewin, 31, fled the scene, drove through a field and hit a telephone pole.

A woman who witnessed the crash approached Ewin's vehicle, opened the door and attempted to pull him from the car.  Ewin tried to backup while she was still clutching the car door.

The man involved in the initial crash noticed what was going on and fired a shot toward Ewin's vehicle.

No one was hit by the gunfire.

Ewin bolted from his vehicle and took off on foot.

The victim and female witness called police and ran after him.

When officers arrived, they joined in on the chase and were able to track him down.

Ewin was taken into custody. He was charged with DUI, resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.

No one was injured.

The victim was not charged for firing shots.
