Gregory Capps
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Officers Wednesday night charged Gregory Capps with felony vehicular assault after the SUV he was driving struck and critically injured a pedestrian in Madison.
Metro police said Capps, 43, was traveling south on East Marthona Road when he hit Theresa Lawton. The 52-year-old was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Capps told officers he didn't see Lawton.
Officers detected an odor of alcohol on Capps, who was taken to General Hospital for a mandatory blood test after field sobriety tasks indicated impairment.
In addition to vehicular assault, Capps was also charged with driving on a revoked license.
He was booked into the Metro jail on $110,000 bond.
