Texas murder suspect arrested in La Vergne

LA VERGNE, Tenn. -

Police arrested a 41-year-old man in La Vergne who was wanted in Texas for a murder that occurred in 1994.

Authorities said Mario Marraquin, who is wanted for homicide charges in Houston, had been living in the 800 block of La Vergne Lane for 12 years under the assumed name of Cesar Cruz.

"This was a case of interstate and interagency cooperation," said Detective Sergeant David Durham.

He continued, "Texas police and Homeland Security Investigations were able to identify Mr. Marraquin. La Vergne detectives then obtained a fugitive from justice warrant to carry out the extradition process for him to be returned to Texas to face charges."

Marraquin is currently waiting extradition to Texas.

Additional information about the Houston murder cold case was not released.
