BATESVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Panola County authorities say a bullet that struck a Panola County school bus, grazing at least one student in the back, may have been a hunting accident.
District Attorney John Champion tells WNC-TV in Memphis that a 10-year-old student was transported by helicopter Monday to Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis.
Champion says authorities have received word from the hospital that the boy is going to be okay.
The bullet went through a side window of the South Panola bus, carrying about 15 students when the incident occurred.
Champion says investigators believe the shooting could have been a hunter.
Champion says so far a person has been cooperative in their investigation as they see what he was doing out there and why the shot was fired.
