Franklin police arrested two drivers for DUI over the weekend following two separate crashes just hours apart.

The first accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Maples Shopping Center on Murfreesboro Road.

The driver, Daniel Alexander, left the scene but was arrested a short time later after officers determined he was impaired.

Alexander, 36, of Franklin, was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.

Less than nine hours later, at about 3 a.m. Saturday, a patrol officer found an abandoned vehicle on 11th Avenue North had struck a utility pole.

The driver, 42-year-old Diana Brown, returned to the scene while officers were investigating.

The officers determined Brown, of Franklin, to be impaired and arrested her.

She was charged with her third DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident, among other charges.

Both drivers are due in court February 7.
