CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

Clarksville police arrested a man over the weekend after he broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment.

The 48-year-old woman called police around 7:15 p.m. Saturday after returning to her Riverwood Place home to find the door kicked in and a jewelry box containing six gold rings missing.

Witnesses gave officers a description of the suspect who was later identified as Ricky Borders.

Borders, 45, was found a short time later hiding in the backseat of car whose driver was pulled over for driving without headlights on.

Borders at first tried to lie about his identity.

According to police, he was previously involved in a domestic incident with the victim and prohibited from committing any offense against her.

Borders was charged with aggravated burglary and criminal impersonation and booked into the Montgomery County jail.

The stolen rings and jewelry box were recovered and returned to the victim.
