NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Fire damaged a building at an apartment complex in north Nashville Monday morning.
The fire broke out around 8:40 a.m. at the Haynes Garden Apartments in the 2700 block of Whites Creek Pike across from Moormans Arm Road
Heavy smoke and flames were reported by the first crews on the scene. The fire chief told Nashville's News 2 flames were shooting from a second story window.
The fire department cut holes in the roof to prevent the fire from spreading through the attic.
No one was home in the unit where the fire began. Other residents in the building were evacuated by a maintenance man.
No injuries were reported.
Two apartments sustained significant damage. Six other units suffered smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
