Family welcomes late sailor home Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A sailor who passed away two weeks ago returned to his home state of Tennessee on Friday.

The family of 1st Class Petty Officer Christopher Cozart escorted his body from the Nashville International Airport home to Columbia, Tennessee where he was born and raised.

The 25-year-old sailor served seven years in Navy.

Cozart was stationed at Pearl Harbor Naval Station, Hawaii at the time of his death. He also served five years on the U.S.S. Tucson, a nuclear submarine.

Cozart's family is holding public visitation Saturday at the Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia from Noon until 8 p.m.

A public funeral will be held on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home with full military honors provided by the United States Navy.

Cozart's cause of death has yet to be released.
