NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Tennessee Supreme Court has put a stop to appeals on behalf of one of the state's most notorious serial killers.

Advocates have continued to file requests for new trials even though Paul Dennis Reid has said he's ready to be executed and no longer desires to appeal.

His sister and attorneys have maintained he's not mentally competent to make that decision.

Reid was sentenced to death seven times for killing seven workers at three fast-food restaurants in Nashville and Clarksville in 1997.

A judge previously Reid deemed competent to make decisions about his case.
