We're still keeping our eyes on Friday morning (after midnight through morning hours) for a wintry mix.
The temperatures at around 5,000 feet should be around 41°, while here at the surface we are in the 30-32° range.
This should result in a sleet/freezing rain mix situation.
If this occurs, there will be slippery roads Friday morning.
The maps to the right show two models' breakdown of the precip type. Yellow=Freezing Rain, Red=Sleet (PL or ice pellets).
The good news is that it will be fast moving, so no dangerous ice accumulation on trees/power lines will occur.
It is likely that it will change to rain during the mid morning hours before ending during the afternoon.
From Kentucky northward, it is more of a snow situation.
