Man seriously injured after driver rolls through stop sign

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

A 28-year-old man was seriously injured in a crash after the driver rolled through a stop sign and into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

The incident happened just before 8:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Purple Heart Highway and Evans Road in Clarksville.

According to a news release, 19-year-old Frederick Robinson was driving a Lincoln LS north on Evans Road when he rolled through a stop sign and collided with an oncoming 2006 Mitsubishi Galant traveling east on Purple Heart Highway.

Daeeshayne Powers, 18, and 28-year-old Kendall Ashby were passengers in the Lincoln. Both were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Ashby, who was a back seat passenger, received injuries to his head and chest. He was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition.

No one else was injured in the accident.

Powers was cited for simple possession after officers discovered he had marijuana in his possession at the crash scene.

A crash investigation is ongoing.
