NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Nashville Rescue Mission reached capacity on Monday night as the temperatures dropped to the upper 20s.

By 10 p.m., officials for the organization said around 500 people came to the shelter to seek relief from the frigid temperatures.

In preparation of the cold and to accommodate more people, extra cots and seats were laid out.

Overnight temperatures are expected to reach around 19 degrees in the Nashville area, which is the coldest night Music City has seen in two years.

On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to remain below freezing all day.
