Metro officer injured in I-40 crash

A Metro police officer was taken to the hospital after an accident in Hermitage overnight Friday.

Metro police Captain Ben Dicke told Nashville's News 2 the accident happened just after Midnight in the westbound lanes of I-40 near Stewart's Ferry Pike.

The officer was helping with a vehicle fire when he was rear-ended.

He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with minor injuries.

The officer's name wasn't released.
