NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A Bellevue mother turned herself into Metro police on Friday after she was indicted in connection to the death of her 17-month-old daughter.
Neena Costanza, 21, was at work when her daughter, Eloise, died from head trauma in July.
Costanza left her daughter in the care of her boyfriend, Jacob Hughes, 22.
According to police, Hughes contacted Costanza through Facebook and informed her that Eloise was having trouble breathing.
Neena Costanza headed home and while en route she called 911. When paramedics arrived Eloise was bruised and unresponsive.
Hughes claimed the baby's injury was due to a fall.
The autopsy found other injuries. The medical examiner ruled Eloise's death a homicide.
Hughes was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated child abuse on July 26.
Police believe that Costanza knew of Hughes' alleged abusive behavior but still left her daughter in his care.
Neena Costanza is charged with first-degree murder, child neglect and child endangerment. She was released on $50,000 bond on Friday.
