PORTLAND, Tenn. -

Authorities arrested a Sumner County man Thursday for setting fire to his house last fall.

The fire occurred at Bobby Lancaster's home located at 174 West Market Street in Portland on October 24, 2012.

No one was home at the time and it was later determined the home had no electricity, water or gas.

Through their investigation, officers developed Lancaster, 57, as a suspect.

During an interview Thursday, Lancaster admitted to using lighter fluid to soak the carpet at the top of the stairs and ignite the fluid with his cigarette.

He was arrested, charged with arson and booked into the Sumner County jail on a $50,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on February 27.
