FRANKLIN, Tenn. -
A Smyrna man was critically injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash Thursday night in Williamson County.
The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. on the exit ramp from Interstate 65 North to Cool Springs Boulevard East.
Franklin police have determined the driver, Aric Doanes, 45, lost control of his vehicle after exiting the interstate, causing it to overturn and land on its roof in the eastbound lanes of Cool Springs Boulevard.
After being extricated by firefighters, Doanes was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he remained Friday morning in critical condition.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing although investigators say speed was a factor.
A portion of Cool Springs Boulevard was shutdown for approximately four hours. It has since reopened.
The crash is the second rollover crash this month on the exit ramp. Chad Scism, 34, of Thompson's Station, was killed on January 2.
Franklin police, however, say accidents at the interchange are not common.
