A traffic stop Tuesday on Interstate 40 in Dickson resulted in the seizure of nearly 300 pounds of marijuana.
The drugs were found after officers stopped a Ford pickup truck pulling a Nissan Altima near the 166 mile marker on I-40 East.
The vehicles were thoroughly searched after a drug dog called to the scene indicated a presence of illegal drugs.
Inside the Nissan, officers found approximately 125 pounds of pot. Approximately 154 pounds of pot was found inside an external fuel tank mounted in the bed of the truck.
Both occupants of the pickup truck were arrested and will be charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
The marijuana would have had a street value in excess of $250,000.
According to a news release, the driver was also wanted in Mexico for murder.
The suspects' names were not released.
