Volunteers fall at Kentucky 75-65

LEXINGTON, Ky. -

For the first time since 1998, the Tennessee Volunteers are 0-3 to start the basketball season in the Southeastern Conference.

The Vols missed another opportunity Tuesday night in Lexington, Kentucky falling to the Wildcats 75-65.

The Vols shot 56% in the first half, but still found themselves down 34-31 at the break.

They continued to keep it close in the second half, even taking a 54-53 lead with 7:14 to play on a three-point basket by Derek Reese.

The Cats outscored them 22-11 the rest of the way for the victory.

Jordan McRae led Tennessee with 23 points and was the only Volunteer to hit double figures.

Kyle Wiltjer led the Wildcats with 17 points, but Nerlens Noel was the Cats most dominant player with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocked shots.

With the loss Tennessee falls to 8-7 overall. Kentucky improves to 11-5, 2-1 in the Southeastern Conference.
