WINTRY MIX THIS AFTERNOON/MORE POSSIBLE BY TUESDAY AM
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of Middle Tennessee from 2PM this afternoon through 8AM Tuesday morning.
A mixture of sleet/freezing rain/snow should push in during the afternoon and evening hours.
Temperatures will barely get above freezing in Nashville, but quickly drop below freezing near dark when slick spots could develop on roadways, especially bridges and overpasses.
To the west of I-65 and Nashville temperatures will stay at or below freezing all day and slick spots could develop there even during the afternoon.
The precipitation may temporarily taper off later this evening, with more possible late tonight through Tuesday.
More slick roads are possible Tuesday morning.
Ironically, the temperatures will stay above freezing in eastern sections of Middle Tennessee where only rain mixing with sleet may occur.
For you weather geeks (and you wouldn't be reading this if you were not!), Justin Bruce found this forecast sounding (vertical profile of the atmosphere) showing "evaporational cooling that could take place initially when the precipitation first begins to fall.
