Police arrested a Murfreesboro couple Wednesday following a grand jury indictment charging them in connection to the death of their newborn baby.
According to police department spokesperson Kyle Evans, Siera Copley, 24, and Trent Hammers, 23, rolled over onto the child while sleeping at their Second Avenue apartment last April.
The baby, Lawless Hammers, was three months old at the time. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died.
There was evidence of narcotics usage at the scene, according to arrest reports. An autopsy also revealed the infant had drugs in his system.
Copley and Hammers face charges of reckless homicide.
They are being held in the Rutherford County jail on a $100,000 bond each.
