A statewide Amber Alert issued for a two-year-old Houston County boy has been cancelled after the boy was safely located Wednesday afternoon in Marion County, outside Chattanooga.

Marion County Sheriff Bo Burnette told News Channel 9 in Chattanooga the car the pair was in was stopped on Interstate 24 near exit 152 after several truckers saw the car and the Amber Alert on overhead message boards and called police.

The sheriff said the truckers were able to box Whitehead's car in until a trooper was able to pull the vehicle over.

Whitehead was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Marion County jail.

Cael disappeared from his home in Houston County, about 75 miles northwest of Nashville, around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities feared for the boy's safety

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Austin Whitehead has made suicidal threats in the past and may be a danger to others.
