NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The Nashville Library is again accepting non-perishable food items in place of fines for overdue library books.
Now through January 20, members will get $1 knocked off their fine for every canned good they drop off.
The donations will go to Second Harvest Food Bank.
Acceptable items include peanut butter, canned chicken or tuna, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned soups, cereals and pastas.
Food for Fines continues through January 20 at all Nashville Public Library locations.
The program does not include replacement fees for lost or damaged materials, collection agency fees, card replacement fees and future overdue fines.
