Man shot outside west Nashville bar dies from gunshot wound

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A man critically injured during a shooting outside of a bar in west Nashville Sunday morning has died.

Gunshots rang out just after 1:30 a.m. outside of Johnny's Tavern in the 5300 block of Centennial Boulevard near New York Avenue.

According to Metro police, Donteze Howse was leaving the bar when two men opened fire into a crowd of people.

Howse, 18, was hit in the upper leg and a second man, who was not immediately identified, was shot in the foot.  The two drove themselves to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

Howse later died at the hospital from his injuries.

According to a news release, a third shooting victim drove himself to Vanderbilt University Medical Center later Sunday.  He told officials that he went home the previous night and realized he had been shot in the leg when he woke up.

The investigation is ongoing.
