NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

On Friday, Mayor Karl Dean unveiled his mid-year capital spending proposal which includes a multi-million dollar makeover for parts of the Bridgestone Arena in downtown.

The $7 million project calls for cosmetic improvements to modernize the outside of the building in addition to other upgrades.

Mayor Dean said with the opening of the new Music City Center and Omni Hotel nearby he wants the backside of the arena, located on Demonbreun Street, to be transformed into a second main entrance.

"So what our plan is, is to actually expand the plaza area, make it much more friendly, much more inviting, to modernize the outside of it [and] make it look real nice," explained Dean.

Also in Dean's $110 million spending proposal is a $4 million central police precinct to be located on Korean Veterans Boulevard.
