FRANKLIN, Tenn. -
A driver was killed in a crash Wednesday afternoon that had the exit ramp from Interstate 65 North to Cool Springs Boulevard East shutdown for several hours.
The accident happened just after 3 p.m.
According to Franklin police, Chad Scism, 34, of Thompson's Station, lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway, overturned and struck a light pole.
He died at the scene.
Witnesses told police Scism's vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.
Scism was wearing his seatbelt, and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor, police said.
The ramp to Cool Springs Boulevard was shutdown for several hours. Motorists were encouraged to use McEwen Drive as an alternative route.
Southbound traffic on I-65 was unaffected.
