FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

The Franklin Police Department is searching for two suspects who attempted to steal an ATM from a Franklin grocery store Monday morning.

Officers responded to the Harris Teeter located on Whitman Road in the Westhaven subdivision around 4 a.m. after employees inside noticed two men acting suspiciously.

The suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot after discovering that they were being watched.

Arriving officers found their vehicle, a 2001 green Dodge Ram that had been stolen from the Nashville area, backed up to the ATM outside of the store.

Chains were found in the back of the truck leading officers to believe that the suspects planned to steal the ATM.

Officers used K9s to search the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

The suspects are described as two black males.  They were last seen wearing dark colored jackets and stocking caps.

Police said they could be armed.

Anyone with information is urged to call Franklin police at 615-794-2513.
