WESTMORELAND, Tenn. -
A single vehicle collision claimed the life of a man in Sumner County on Wednesday night.
The accident occurred just before Midnight on U.S. Highway 31E near Pleasant Grove Road in Westmoreland.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said William Johnson, Jr., 58, of Hendersonville, was traveling south on U.S. Highway 31E when he left the right side of the roadway and collided with a tree.
The impact caused Johnson's Jeep to roll down an embankment where it burst into flames.
Johnson, the vehicle's lone occupant, died on the scene.
