Students participating in study abroad program stranded in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A group of students from Western Kentucky University are still waiting to get to their final destination.

Around 30 students were headed to London on Wednesday for a study abroad program over the holidays, but the weather canceled their flight.

"I've been looking forward to this trip for months now and I was so excited yesterday thinking I was actually going to leave and then... not quite," said student Katie Leavell.

"It wasn't looking good," said Abigail Boyd. "I was at home packing and thought maybe we'll beat it. Then we got here and the lines weren't moving. We thought 'oh no.'"

While their timing may have been unfortunate, it hasn't seemed to dampen the excitement for the group. They expect to make it to London before Friday.

While the weather situation is over for Tennessee and most of the Midwest, more winter weather bearing down on the East Coast could mean more canceled flights and more delays as the day carries on.
