Cheatham County man accused of killing wife on Christmas Day

ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. -

The Cheatham County Sheriff's Department has arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting Tuesday afternoon.

Carl Johnson is accused of killing his wife on Christmas Day.

Dispatchers answered the 911 call just before 1:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Trouble Road in Ashland City.

His wife, whose name was not immediately released, was in her 70s. Police said the two had been married for more than 50 years.

Johnson was charged with first degree murder and was booked into the Cheatham County jail.

No further information was immediately released.

The investigation is ongoing.
