NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Emergency responders on the scene of a Christmas morning house fire say a woman threatened fire crews at the home.

Fire crews were alerted to the blaze in the 5900 block of Deal Avenue around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters who responded saw heavy smoke coming from the house, however the fire was under control in about 10 minutes.

Crews on the scene called Metro police for backup because of a situation with a woman at the home.

They alerted other crews on their dispatch channel, saying the woman had a spray can and a lighter and was threatening them.

The woman was transported to Centennial Medical Center. She was not hurt in the fire.

Fire crews on the scene say the woman admitted to setting fire to the home.

The fire marshal is investigating.

Police told Nashville's News 2 they responded to the home Monday night on a welfare check.
