GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. -

Several residents in Davidson and Sumner counties were without power Tuesday morning after a Metro police vehicle crashed into a utility pole.

The incident was reported around 4:15 a.m. along Dickerson Pike at South Main Street, not too far from Rivergate Parkway.

According to Metro Police Captain Ken Walburn, the officer was driving along Dickerson Pike when a black four-door vehicle veered into his lane.

The officer swerved to avoid the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole. The other vehicle continued driving.

Nearly 3,000 residents were without power for approximately three hours and power has since been restored.
