According to Metro Police Captain Ken Walburn, the officer was driving along Dickerson Pike when a black four-door vehicle veered into his lane.

The officer swerved to avoid the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole. The other vehicle continued driving.

Nearly 3,000 residents were without power for approximately three hours and power has since been restored.
