Staff prepares Centennial Hospital before Santa's arrival

Staff at Centennial Hospital in Nashville spent time wrapping presents and spreading holiday joy for patients on Monday just in time for Christmas.

"A lot of times they can start feeling very left out feeling like Santa is going to forget about them," explained hospital worker Caroline Poole.

Among those children spending Christmas in the hospital this year is Bryson Oakley.

"He has RSV, which is respiratory problem, making it hard for him to breathe [and he has] high fevers [and] all that good stuff," father Craig said.

Dr. Brad Strohler told Nashville's News 2 serving patients and making them feel special is especially important during the holidays.

"We try to keep it light. We have to be mindful of the fact these people have illness and they rather not be here, so we have to intensify our own desire to support them and be here for them to compensate for that," he explained.

Healthcare is the largest industry in Nashville.
