NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The iconic vintage music shop Gruhn Guitars is moving to a new location on 8th Avenue.

The company said in a press release that it will begin renovations on the new space in 2013.

The store's downtown location will remain open at 400 Broadway until moving to the new location.

The ground floor of the new building will have a larger showroom to display all the instruments, along with new rooms to test out trial instruments.

The rest of the building will be used for showrooms, administrative offices and storage.

"We are looking forward to moving to a larger building with a better floor layout and ample parking to permit us to provide a better environment for our customers to view and play our fine selection of vintage, used, and new instruments," said George Gruhn in a press release.

He continued, "We will miss being next door to the Ryman Auditorium and other downtown landmarks, but our new location puts us within minutes of all of these attractions, plus much closer to Music Row and numerous other music business enterprises. It will be a great new home for Gruhn Guitars."

Gruhn opened his first location on 4th Avenue in January 1970.
