A local husband and father returned home for the last time Thursday following a 25-year career as a Marine.Russell Cederburg nearly lost his legs in 2003 when he was crushed by a tank while serving in Iraq. He recovered and served his final mission in Afghanistan.He met his wife Tiffany and six-month-old baby boy in baggage claim at the Nashville International Airport Thursday evening."Are you ready to see your dad?" Tiffany Cederburg cooed to her infant son as she checked the board listing the latest incoming flight information.Tiffany continued, "What we thought would be a six month deployment obviously went a lot longer."During his deployment, Russell Cederburg only had the chance to see his son once and that was only for a two week visit.In the interim, the family used Skype to communicate.Finally, Russell's familiar face emerged from the crowd. Husband and wife embraced and six-month old Harper was elated to be in his father's arms."It's like stepping out of a dark room into the rising sun," said the now-retired Marine.Russell Cederburg told Nashville's News 2 he plans to seek civilian work in the Information Technology field.
