NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A 17-year-old is behind bars for the December 9 shooting death of 59-year-old Ambrose James Jr.

Donald Floyd surrendered himself late Thursday night after making arrangements to meet officers in a parking lot on Dickerson Pike near Briley Parkway.

A juvenile court petition charging him homicide was issued just hours earlier.

James, aka "James Ambrose", was shot and killed outside his Lenore Street apartment.

James was known to sit outside his apartment and reportedly loaned money to persons in the community.

Floyd and James are believed to have been involved in an altercation that led to gunfire.
