LA VERGNE, Tenn. -
La Vergne police were called to an area bank on Tuesday afternoon after a suspicious package was discovered.
The incident was reported at Regions Bank located at 5021 Murfreesboro Road around 3:40 p.m.
According to Chief Mike Walker, the package was placed next to the bank's mechanical room.
Officials said the bank, in addition to businesses within a 300 foot perimeter were evacuated while crews investigated. The businesses have since re-opened.
During the course of the investigation, authorities determined the package was harmless.
The Special Operations unit of the Tennessee Highway Patrol also assisted in the investigation.
