WHITE HOUSE, Tenn. -

Three schools in White House, Robertson County were on lockdown Tuesday following a bank robbery.

The robbery occurred before 2 p.m. at the Regions Bank located on Highway 76 in White House.

White House Heritage High School, White House Heritage Elementary School and Robert F. Woodall Elementary School were placed on soft lockdown as a precaution.

Robertson County Schools' spokesperson Jim Bellis said there was no reason to believe there was any imminent danger to students or staff.

Bellis said recorded phone calls were made to parents notifying them of the lockdown.

The lockdown was lifted about an hour later and students were dismissed as scheduled.

White House police are continuing to search for the suspect who is described as a white male in his mid-30s.

He is around six feet, one inch tall with a medium build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark colored hooded jacket and sunglasses.

Police said he fled the scene on foot before getting into an older model, dark colored Volvo with damage to the front bumper with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 615-672-4903.
